Join BLMIC for our next rally at Notre Dame of Maryland University, 4701 N. Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21210.
It's only 1 hour to stand with our Black brother and sisters and proclaim "Black Lives Matter!"
When BLMIC holds a Rally at or near a college or university, we will seek out established resources for low income students as the recipients of our Related Action.
There are several resources at Notre Dame of Maryland University to help students in need. The Gator Thrift Clothing Closet opened in February 2023 to assist students with new and gently used/clean, shoes, formal and informal dresses, blazers, sweaters, jackets, scarves, jeans, leggings, pj bottoms, scrubs and more! Students from Notre Dame of Maryland University will attend the rally to collect these items.
Gator Groceries does not need food at this time but are always in need of the following items: sanitary pads, tampons, toothpaste, toothbrushes, liquid or bar soap, hand sanitizer and deodorant.
Thank you for your generous support!
The event was organized by Fr. Mike Murphy, pastor of St. Joseph’s Monastery in Baltimore’s Irvington neighborhood. Fr. Murphy grew up in Edmondson Village and says this event is a vital springboard for further action toward peacebuilding in that neighborhood and all over Baltimore City.
"We thank the community members, those donors of funds to make those gun buybacks and we thank the elected officials who came and spoke and offered their support to bring peace and end violence," Fr. Murphy continued. "Today gives people hope. It's not about pointing fingers and laying blame. It's about hope for people who live in challenging conditions and we can be a better city. This is the beginning of building a better platform for peace."
Our rallies are generally on the third Sunday of every month from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. That's just one hour of your time to stand and proclaim "Black Lives Matter!"
On August 20, we will rally in front of the Visitor's Center at Coppin State University.
On September 10, we will rally in front of Notre Dame of Maryland University. Please Note: For September, we will rally on the SECOND SUNDAY (Sept. 10) because our Jewish Friends will be celebrating Rosh Hashanah (Happy New Year!) Shanah Tovah!
